Help: P3R Doesnt load with asi loader, but does inside the mod manager. (linux)

When trying to run P3R after enabling winedlloverrides, the game just will not boot. Both big picture and normal mode have this issue. Running arch, not on a steamdeck, if thats any help. Not flatpak either. Only mods im using is social stat tracker, which runs perfectly fine with the mod manager vs steam.

Mainly a issue for me, as im running hyprland, and with hyprland, desktop space is a BIG issue, and I preferably want to only open the mod manager to change mods, and not to run it. The other mod manager I use for helldivers (not a comparison of mod managers, infact Reloaded's mod browser is genuinely functioning, unlike arsenal) but atleast it was a option. I know your overworked, from reading other reports, but I seriously never want to open the mod manager beyond managing mods.

Hello back from Hyprland 0.54.2 running on Nix.

Chances are you didn't adjust the DLL name when copying the WINEDLLOVERRIDES.

Easiest means is:

1. Open game folder where executable name is
2. Sort files by date
3. See newest modified DLL

Then replace it in the WINEDLLOVERRIDES string.
i.e. WINEDLLOVERRIDES="version=n,b" -> WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm=n,b"

If the most recent DLL is winmm.dll in game folder.

Generally, Wine 11 should obsolete the need for this; but not sure if Proton 11 has the patch for this or not.

I was using version instead of winmm, but the same issue occurs. Most recent dll is winmm.dll.

Nevermind, I was using winmm.dll. I just used version in protontricks.

Yep. Im just using protontricks as a gui to get to winecfg easier.

Hmm; after some thought, a very old issue comes to mind.
Say, can you check the DOTNET_ROOT env var?

Maybe you need to do DOTNET_ROOT="", in case you have a local Linux native .NET install.

I doubt it since I override in registry, but might aswell check.

I don't have P3R, but I did check with P5R on Proton Experimental,

So the instructions should still be valid, FWIW

I have the same problem of P3R not launching while P5R does, with the exact same settings. Except neither of them launch within the mod manager, either. To be clear, in my case the game acts as though it's launching via steam via the bootstrapper, and then says it's running, but no window opens to play the game. I tested maybe six different versions of proton before deciding it must be a compatibility issue with reloaded.

I don't actually remember how I made the bootstrapper work before, either, so I can't figure out how to make it stop launching with the bootstrapper via steam... So I can't play P3R at all at the moment. Unfortunate.

Not being able to launch it from within the mod loader may or may not be related. To be safe, here's the error I get when I try to launch P5R:

I know some people do a trick where they launch the game like this:

STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH=/home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/2161700/ %command% --launch "Z:\home\deck\.local\share\Steam\steamapps\common\P3R\P3R\Binaries\Win64\P3R.exe"

So they add Reloaded-II.exe to Steam as a game, and use the custom commandline to launch from P3R's WINEPREFIX.
The --launch is a Reloaded CLI command that just boots a game, without popping the GUI.

Curious if that does it.

I just checked, p5r works completely fine with asi launcher, had a bit of a issue with multiple instances open for a moment, but fixed that with a quick killall, and now it work fine. While stalking btop, i noticed that persona 3 is open when you hit play, but its stuck on exactly 410mb of ram.
