Merging not working properly?

I genuinely have no idea why this happens. I already had 3 songs from an album, I imported a new one and chose MERGE, but it didn't add it to the already existing folder [1997] Plenilunio but instead created a new one using the aunique{} function.

Is this the expected behavior? What do I need to tweak in order for it to add it to an existing folder?

Oh and this is my path config:

Alright it seems like the Duplicates Plugin doesn't work properly.

In Picard, sometimes it shows me I have duplicated songs from the same album, which I don't remove manually because that's what beets should be able to manage with the Duplicates Plugin, however, they all get imported. Not even running beet dup -M or beet dup -D work. Only beet dup -a which creates even more duplicates (files with the same name and a .n suffix, where n is the duplicate count). Seems like a bug to me, but I haven't gotten a response in my issue confirming it.

So, in short, I have no current way of dealing with duplicates with beets.

PS: I remember the first time using beet dup -D it asked me for confirmation. This does no longer happen. Maybe that has something to do with it.

In the old folder are there any extra files, that beets does not manage?

There is a fix for coverart not being deleted, merged to master 22 April 2026, which is what I have seen previously when merging albums.

I'm not sure. I don't think so but I've deleted all my cover.jpg files from my library so I can't tell for sure. I'm still trying to figure out what's going to gather more info before creating an issue
