Upstream dependency / related issue

This issue is caused by a known false-positive in the Firebase iOS SDK and is being tracked upstream here:

The Firebase team has confirmed the fix will be released in Firebase iOS SDK 12.8.0.

Thanks for the heads-up @prashant753 - I'll be on the lookout for 12.8.0 release and will try to get it out here as quickly as possible.

Please note that there is no reason I can think of why 12.8.0 would be incompatible with currently published react-native-firebase, meaning that as soon as it is available as a valid firebase-ios-sdk version on cocoapods.org, you may adopt it in react-native-firebase projects with no delay via a local override:

https://rnfirebase.io/#ios

That's the purpose of that mechanism - to give people an immediate / emergency escape hatch for the underlying SDK version if they need it.

But of course we try to track current version quickly with official releases as well

Yes, we’ll go ahead with the local override to unblock our App Store submission in the meantime.

I mainly wanted to give a heads-up here since we were closely tracking the upstream Firebase iOS thread and saw multiple apps (including ours) getting blocked due to the _SwiftValue false positive. Thought it’d be useful to surface it early on the RNFirebase side as well.

We’ll keep an eye out for the 12.8.0 release and move back to the standard setup once it’s available on CocoaPods.

Wanted to know IF the upstream sdk publishes a patch version by backporting the fix to v11 (of firebase-ios-sdk).

will it be possible for you to release patch versions on react-native-firebase packages as well?

Not technically feasible to support releases for backports but you can always override the sdk version via a podfile directive and try it at your own risk. Override documented on main page of rnfirebase.io
