I do not like how this forces the date to be pushed out of the window:

@bpasero, do we feel that the date is more important that the changes statistics.
In my view the priority order should be: 1) diff statistics, 2) date, 3) brach name.
Also items that are being shrunk, should have a text ellipsis.

One thing to note is that the work tree branch info can be very long ("badge"), so that should always shrink imho.
